Luis Vargas is a Los Angeles-based film composer. His recent scoring credits include the short films The Eye of the Beholder, Faltered, and Sand-prints. Beyond the screen, he recently premiered his string quintet, Unspoken Words, at The Night Temple in Los Angeles.
His scores are meticulously crafted to follow and enhance the emotional journey of the story. His process often begins with sampling unique or everyday objects and transforming them into bespoke playable instruments to achieve a signature sonic palette. From developing character driven thematic material and building expansive worlds with epic hybrid orchestral scores to composing intimate piano and strings for heartbreaking, breath taking moments, his work is designed to fully immerse the audience.
Luis holds a bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Scoring from Berklee College of Music. He has furthered his professional training through the BMI/TV Scoring Workshop at New York University, as well as the Screen Music Programs in both Pavia, Italy, and Los Angeles.
